Hi. I’m Michael Dabbs.
But most people just call me Dabbs.
I work with clients of all shapes and sizes, partnering closely with teams to solve real-world problems, bring structure to complex challenges, and define and design what’s next.
Beyond what I do, there's the how. Over the years, some patterns have emerged. These are more perspective than process—shaping how I think, collaborate, and approach the work.
-
I trust curiosity more than certainty.
Every organization knows more about itself than it realizes. The challenge is often that proximity makes it difficult to see what’s been there all along. Better brands don’t emerge from believing they already have the answer. They emerge from asking better questions and uncovering what’s already true.
-
Not everything deserves equal weight.
Ideas are easy to collect. Deciding which ones deserve to survive is the hard part. Every word, feature, initiative, or product competes for attention. If everything is important, nothing is. The strongest work isn’t built by accumulating more. It’s built through disciplined decisions that protect what matters most.
-
The goal is conviction, not consensus.
The strongest work rarely emerges from immediate agreement. It grows through honest conversations, competing perspectives, and the willingness to challenge assumptions. Disagreement isn’t friction to avoid. It’s how weaknesses surface while there’s still time to strengthen the work.
-
Complexity is inevitable. Confusion is optional.
The challenge isn’t making things simpler than they are. It’s organizing complexity without losing what made it valuable in the first place. That work is rarely visible, but its impact is. It frees people to stop deciphering the work and start engaging with ideas.
-
Your niche becomes my niche.
I’ve never been particularly good at staying in my lane. I ask questions outside the brief, connect dots no one asked me to connect, and naturally become invested in the decisions that shape both the work and the business. Before long, clients stop thinking of me as an outside consultant and start treating me like part of their out-of-house, in-house team.
